here is something
very fishy about the Arar affair. It is stinking!! You had better take
a good whiff! Why would Syria do anything for the United States? (IE:
torture Maher Arar for the C.I.A.) How did Arar manage to get all this
in short order?
Was Arar tortured in Syria? Was Arar tortured at all? What might have actually happened, and probably did?
Why would the government of Canada pay a million dollars to Arar's lawyers??
Most Canadians would be left to rot in Hell, I can assure you as one who knows.
ANSWER: This all makes Steven Harper and the Tories look good and Jean Chrétien, Paul Martin, and the Liberals look bad. Why? Washington felt it was time for a "regime change" in Ottawa and they engineered one. They regularly do these operations everywhere else. Why not here? Oh, right! The people in Washington don't know, or care, about Canada. But they do know, and care, about Uzbekistan and Somalia. Harper is making much of how he keeps his promises. What promises? To whom has he made promises? Look at his foreign policy and take a guess. The Income Trust scandal was another operation. So was the Sponsorship Scandal. Take a look.
Do your job.

P.S.: Arar probably was tortured (or he is a good actor), but where, Langley? Quantico? And by whom? Like everyone else, Arar likely is only a pawn in their game.
